About Utility Vehicles
Utility Vehicles (UTVs), or side-by-sides, are off-road vehicles that differ from ATVs (all-terrain vehicles) in that they seat a passenger next to the driver rather than behind. Additionally, while some UTVs can hold up to six people, ATVs typically support just one or two riders. UTVs also usually have a steering wheel, pedals, a cargo box, and other features that make them handy for workers and crews that need to haul tools and materials. Many UTV manufacturers also offer ROPS (rollover protection systems), hardtop roofs, windshields, and a cab enclosure as standard features or factory-equipped options.

Types Of UTVs
Within TractorHouse.com.au’s larger Utility Vehicles category, you’ll find Utility, Sport/Recreation, and Other UTV subcategories. You’ll also find youth UTV models throughout the categories that, depending on features and specifications, are excellent for kids and beginners looking to get started with UTVs.
Designed for work, Utility UTVs prioritise productivity by incorporating larger rear cargo spaces and towing features. These models provide between 30 and 100 horsepower (22 and 74.5 kilowatts) of rated engine power, and can seat up to six people. The Polaris RANGER, Yamaha Viking, Kawasaki Mule SX, and Kawasaki Mule Pro series are examples of Utility UTVs. Sport and Recreation UTVs, meanwhile, are typically designed with an emphasis on power, performance, and the ability to easily traverse rough terrain. These generally include heavy-duty suspensions but are also lightweight and aerodynamic. Sport UTVs typically offer between 40 and 175 HP (30 and 130 kW), and seat between two and four people. Popular models include the Polaris RZR, Kawasaki TERYX, and Yamaha YXZ1000R.
The Other UTVs subcategory features UTVs that don’t neatly qualify as Utility or Sport/Recreation but that still classify as side-by-sides. These UTVs can have as many as eight wheels, such as the Argo Aurora 800, or run on tracks, such as the Argo Avenger 750 HDI.
